The Kent Sound competition terms and conditions

Anyone who enters the Competition (an "Entrant") will be deemed to have understood these Rules along with the Terms and Conditions and will be bound by them

The following rules are together with, and in addition to the kmfm competition terms and conditions which can be found here

Competition Rules.

To enter the Competition an Entrant must text ‘Kent’ plus their name and postcode to 60099 when requested to by the on air presenter.

Texts are charged at your standard network rate.

Entrants must be aged 18 or over.

Entrants will have 3 minutes to enter, as announced by the on air presenter.

Texts sent before or after this time will not be included but may still be charged.

Incomplete texts may not be entered.

Bulk entries from the same telephone number, whether these are sent via the entrant, automated, or assisted by machine are prohibited. kmfm will at its discretion disqualify any entries which in reasonable opinion appear to have entered this way or used any of these methods to enter the competition.

If bulk entries have been made from the same entrant using more than one telephone number, kmfm will at its discretion, and acting reasonably, disqualify these entries.

A random text will be chosen from the correct entries and called back.

If the chosen entrant does not answer their phone after 2 attempts to call them for whatever reason another entrant will be chosen at random.

If during the call the entrant does not answer when spoken to for whatever reason, including technical issues from the entrants phone, that call may be ended and another caller will be chosen at random.

If the caller is driving at the time of their call and can not pull over for whatever reason, another caller may be chosen at random.

A call will be recorded and played out on air.

The randomly chosen entrant will be played the sound and IS required to talk to the on air presenter/s and give their guess as to what they think The Kent Sound is. The answer must include exactly what the noise is and where (a Kent location) that sound can be heard. Eg, if The Kent Sound was the visor being opened on a knight of armour at Leed Castle, and the contestant said "Knight armour at Leeds Castle" this would be deemed as an incorrect answer.

The presenter and/or producer’s decision on any guess is final, and in the case of a dispute, kmfm will not enter into any correspondence.

The entrant can only have one guess per round.

The cash jackpot starts at £1,000 and for every incorrect guess, £10 will be added to the prize jackpot until The Kent Sound is correctly identfied.

Incorrect guesses as to what The Kent Sound is will be online on the competition page at kmfm.co.uk. These will be updated at kmfm's earliest convenience.

This competition runs weekdays (Monday to Friday) from Monday 3rd March 2025. Competition rounds are set up on air around (but not exactly) these times: 7:20am, 9:20am, 11:20am, 1:20am, 3:20pm and 6:20pm.

If the competition has not been won by the 1:10pm round on Thursday 27th March 2025 the competition will pause to allow for the 'Thousand Pound Friday' competition. If this happens, The Kent Sound competition will resume from Monday 31st March 2025 at 7:10am.

kmfm may run a second Kent Sound (a different sound) after the first one is correctly identified. If this happens, kmfm will announce that on air.

During the competition kmfm reserves the right to give out clue/s to what the sound is on air and/or online at kmfm.co.uk.

If kmfm determines that an entrant is employed by or has a professional association with the location where the sound(s) were recorded, they may be deemed to have an unfair advantage. In such cases, kmfm reserves the right to disqualify the entrant, withhold any prize winnings, and the prize money will be forfeited

kmfm may publish and publicise the winner's name, locaton and image (that they are happy to supply) on websites including (but not limited to) kmfm.co.uk, kentonline and kmfm's social media pages.

Prize:

The cash jackpot that the competition round has reached at the time of the winning guess, which will be announced on air.

Payments are made via BACS to the named winner's account only. Money will arrive within 28 days of winning the competition.

The prize is non-transferable.
