Name A Kent Gritter
You could name a Kent Gritter!
Ben Pearce on Getting You Home (4-7pm) gave a shout out to all of Kent's hard working gritter lorry drivers on the show recently, and played you their version of 'Ice Ice Baby.'
And for main one you have been waiting for, here’s ICE ICE BABY! 😁🥶❄️ We would like to thank all our gritter drivers who work all hours, on shift day and night, including Christmas Day and battle wintery conditions to get the job done. On behalf of KCC and Kent Highways, we'd like to thank the teams for doing a great job, and we know from this page what fantastic feedback they get! They really do appreciate it, so thank you. 😀👍 You can find out more about our winter service on our website www.kent.gov.uk/winter. But for now, here's some info about Gritting Kent: - We have 64 gritters covering 58 primary main routes - We treat over 1,300 miles of road - We have over 14,000 tonnes of salt - We cover main A and B roads - National Highways treat Motorways and trunk roads - 3000 Salt bins are located for use on public highways (not for private property) - Weather stations are placed across the county to give us road surface temperature readings. Road temperatures will vary across the county. - We have a fleet of farmers who help out when the weather gets very wintery

These wintry conditions see the fleet treat the roads overnight by laying salt, so they are safer to drive on during your commute to work.
