These wintry conditions see the fleet treat the roads overnight by laying salt, so they are safer to drive on during your commute to work.

64 gritters covering 58 primary main routes

They treat over 1,300 miles of road

Over 14,000 tonnes of salt

-They cover main A and B roads

3000 Salt bins are located for use on public highways (not for private property)

Weather stations are placed across the county to give them road surface temperature readings. Road temperatures will vary across the county.

The Winner

After nearly 400 votes, Kent's next gritter has officially been named! The winning name, announced on Getting You Home with Ben Pearce, is Grittersaurus Rex.

Grittersaurus Rex was suggested by Katie Charlier from Dover who received a surprise phone call from Ben Pearce on his show to reveal that her suggestion will be printed on the side of the vehicle
