Father charged with causing death of son by dangerous driving in M6 crash

The father of a 14-year-old boy killed in a crash on the M6 on Easter Sunday has been charged with causing his death by dangerous driving, police have said.

Ryan Liam Morgan, from Morecambe, died at the scene after the Peugeot van he was in left the motorway between junctions 34 and 33 southbound and crashed into a tree at around 12.15pm on 20 April.

His father Daniel Burba, 31, also from Morecambe, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was later discharged.

Lancashire Constabulary announced on Sunday it has charged him with causing death by dangerous driving and while unlicensed and uninsured.

He is being held in custody and will appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Paying tribute, a statement from the 14-year-old's family described him as "the most funny, silly, loving, generous boy".

"Ryan, our precious boy. There truly is no one like our Ryan, such a beautiful soul and so far from typical. Words can't express how much we have loved and cherished him and how much we always will," it reads.

"Our home and our family will be so empty and quiet without him. We wanted to see him grow and be the beautiful father and loving husband we knew he would have been."

The teenager's mother Kim added in a separate tribute: "Ryan Liam was the most perfect precious little boy you would ever see, and he grew to be more beautiful every day.

"He was the most amazing son to Kim and brother to Primrose and Summer and we will miss him as long as we live.

"Our hearts have a hole that will never heal, and we can't express enough the devastation this has caused our family. We are eternally heartbroken."
