Billy Childish is performing at Rochester Cathedral with ‘The Chatham Singers.’ Specialising in blues and country music they have release three albums in 2006, 2009 and 2020. The most recent album, Kings of the Medway Delta, featured gritty Chess Studio style blues with Billy on lead vocal.

The Chatham Singers are Billy Childish – Vox / Guitar Nurse Julie – Vox / Bass Wolf Howard – Drums and & ‘Bludy’ Jim on Harp.

The James Taylor Quartet return to Rochester Cathedral. For over 30 years, the James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for the coolest sounds in funky acid jazz. On dozens of mighty albums and at their legendary gigs at home and around the world, they’ve quietly become a byword for distinguished British creativity.

The 2023 Jazz and Blues Festival draws to a close with two incredibly talented acts taking to the stage. The Nigel Price Organ Trio and Jazz legend, Claire Martin OBE

The evening will start with the Nigel Price Organ Trio. Nominated for the 2021 Parliamentary Jazz Award for 'Best ensemble' (they won in 2010) and winners of the 2016 British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’ will be playing selections from their vast back catalogue as well as the recently released and critically acclaimed ‘That’s it.Right there.’an album that celebrates the legacy of the great organists of the past, whilst forging ahead with their own high energy, soul drenched brand of jazz. With Nigel Price on guitar, Liam Dunachie on Hammond Organ and Darren Beckett on drums - you won’t want to miss this act!

The acclaimed Claire Martin OBE will take to the stage for the second half. Described by Jazz Times USA as ranking ‘among the four or five finest jazz vocalists on the planet.’ She has to worldwide acclaim established herself as a tour de force on the UK jazz scene gaining many awards, including winning the British Jazz Awards eight times during her career. At the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2011 she was awarded an OBE for her Services to Jazz.
